Under the agreement, NTB will actively support the branding and global outreach of NPL-2, which has quickly established itself as Nepal’s most credible and internationally recognized franchise cricket league. With mounting global interest, the tournament is being seen as a key driver for drawing cricket fans, international players, commentators, and sports enthusiasts to Nepal.

NTB officials say that Nepal has long viewed cricket as one of the country’s most impactful sports- one with the capacity to host
large-scale international events. The success and popularity of NPL-2 further reinforces Nepal’s ambition to elevate cricket as a central pillar of sports tourism development.

One of the biggest boosts to Nepal’s global visibility is the official broadcast partnership with Star Sports, which will televise NPL-2 internationally. NTB believes that this exposure will significantly enhance Nepal’s destination branding among millions of cricket fans worldwide.

NTB CEO Deepak Raj Joshi said that the growing surge in sports activities across the country- particularly the Nepal Premier League Season-2, has opened a new horizon for sports tourism.

“NPL-2 is a major opportunity to position Nepal on the global stage, Joshi said, “This league helps showcase the nation’s geographic and natural diversity to international audiences. CEO Joshi pointed out Nepal’s growing reputation as a host of international sporting events.

Cricket Association of Nepal General Secretary Paras Khadka expressed delight over the collaboration, stating that the MoU marks a significant step toward strengthening the relationship between sports and tourism. “We are excited to join hands with the Nepal Tourism Board to boost both cricket and tourism,” he said, “The rise of cricket in Nepal in recent years has contributed enormously to promoting the country worldwide, and NPL-2 will further elevate that visibility.”

With international players, global commentators, and high-quality broadcasting, NPL-2 is expected to demonstrate Nepal’s capability to host world-class sporting events. NTB senior manager Surya Thapaliya views the league as a benchmark for how franchise tournaments can help expand Nepal’s tourism landscape, diversify its offerings, and establish the country as a vibrant sporting destination.

As NPL-2 takes the global stage, Nepal aims to showcase not only its cricketing potential but also its breathtaking destinations, adventure experiences, and cultural richness—solidifying its image as a rising hub for sports tourism in South Asia.
